At John Mewing Orthodontics we offer two functional appliances so our patients can achieve the facial balance they desire.

Functional appliances assist in the correct development of the jaws in order to achieve desired facial balance and harmony.

The CBJ Appliance

The Cantilever Bite Jumper (CBJ) Appliance, is a growth modifying appliance that is fixed to the teeth that;

• Is worn to promote jaw growth
• Is designed to achieve better balance between the jaws
• Is fixed and worn 24 hours a day until the desired result is achieved

The Twin Block Appliance

The Twin Block Appliance is a removable appliance that is worn to promote lower jaw growth and achieve balance between the jaws. This appliance is:

• Designed to improve facial harmony
• Can have a great impact during a child’s growth phase
• Comfortable without speaking difficulties
• Adjustments can be made if necessary
• Can be removed for sport, swimming and brushing
• Worn for around 6-9 months
